So, this is the first post on here, and I still haven’t fully decided what this site is going to become. Right now it’s mostly an excuse to actually document the stuff I build outside of client work, rather than let it quietly rot in a private GitHub repo that nobody, including future me, ever looks at again.
A bit of background: I’m a full-stack developer, coming up on 11 years in the industry now, having started as an apprentice back in 2015. I’ve moved through agency, in-house, and freelance work since, and picked up a fairly wide spread of stacks along the way, SvelteKit and Vue are where I’m happiest these days, but I’m just as at home in React, Laravel, or Statamic depending on what a project actually needs. I care more about the craft than the label on the tin.
Outside of client work, I’ve got a habit of building tools for myself because I can’t find one that does quite what I want. Right now that’s meant a self-hostable sample manager for organising my ever-growing, ever-messy library of music production samples, and a fair bit of tinkering with WebGL and shaders just because dithering effects are oddly satisfying to get right. Neither is finished. Both probably never will be, in the way side projects never really are.
Speaking of music, that’s the other thing that takes up a chunk of my free time. I produce drum and bass, which has quietly turned into its own rabbit hole of sound design, plugin chains, and staring at spectrograms far longer than is strictly necessary.
The plan for this space is to use it as a running log rather than a highlight reel, actual progress, actual problems, and the occasional thing that just didn’t work. If you’re a recruiter who’s ended up here, welcome, feel free to poke around and get a sense of how I actually think about building things, not just a list of technologies I’ve used.
More soon.
